Le Vaffieu, Morzine

A firm favourite with me, the Cafe Gourmand at Le Vaffieu never disappoints, however for my first visit winter 2012, I notice the plate size has been reduced making the presentation slightly less attractive however the taste of contents were just as good, including the gorgeous little creme brulee!  Maybe have to account for the fact it was end of a very busy lunch service over Christmas holiday week. This cafe gourmand was preceded by a really super lunch - see my blog Taste of Savoie for a review and photos

an introduction...

My idea for this blog is to work my way round the restaurants of the Haute Savoie sampling the Cafe Gourmands.  This blog allows me to indulge my two great passions eating and photography.

La Belle Excuse, Annecy

Le Cafe Gourmand is typically a selection of bite-size desserts 3 - 5 on a plate and often presented like a work of art on various types of dishes, plates, slates.

On the right hand side there is a link to a photo gallery of Le Cafe Gourmands I have sampled so far, this will be continually updated, and I will create new posts for each new
Cafe Gourmand discovery.

La Grand Ourse

As I continue my search for the best Cafe Gourmand...

I am pleased to announce that after a couple of years of campaigning La Grand Ourse on Mont Chery has given in and added Le Cafe Gourmand to its dessert list.

This was a fine example of a cafe gourmand including mostly home made desserts.  The hot rhubarb crumble with oaty topping was fab and in my experience unusual to find a hot dessert on a cafe gourmand.  The trifle in the kilner jar was very tasty.
